On May 9th Elon Musk set out a series of tweets stating his disgust with Alameda County for not allowing his Tesla car plants to open. Even threatening lawsuit.
“Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense!”
Musk tweeted, followed by this:
“Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependen on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.”
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has said he’s already had talks with Elon Musk about Tesla moving there.
But in a bizarre twist of things The Governor of Colorado tweeted this out May 12th,
“We want you here @elonmusk in Colorado, we are the best of all worlds. We’re very pro-business, low taxes, also pro-immigration, pro-LGBT, globally-minded. Bright, smart, motivated ppl love to live here. @Tesla HQ, Cybertruck, gigafactory look no further! @kimbal”
What’s so strange about this whole situation is that Polis just scolded and pulled the license of a Colorado restaurant for opening up on Mother’s Day while in the same week Elon Musk tweeted out that he was going to open up his factories against his state’s mandate in this tweet:
“Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules. I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me.”
After Polis basically begged Musk to bring Tesla to Colorado he got destroyed by his own constituents on Twitter. Most all of them calling him out on the double standard.
So why would Polis essentially shut down a small restaurant for opening up against the State’s wishes then turn around and beg Elon Musk, who just defied his state’s mandate, to move Tesla to Colorado? The Governor also mentioned being pro-LGBTQ….what does Colorado being Pro-LGBTQ have to do with anything? Bizarre.
