Church

A video has been circulating around Facebook by a conservative public figure, who has pretty good political viewpoints, but poor Biblical stances.
He recently made a video where he criticized the church and minimized the importance of going as a Christian.
I have several observations I would like to address.

1. Jesus Christ established the church, so when we criticize HIS church, we are criticizing Him.

Matthew 16: 18 (KJV) “And I say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Since Jesus established the church and no where in the Bible does it say that the at any point the church no longer has relevance, I wouldn’t ever want to criticize a Biblical church.
There are false churches as defined by the Bible(refer to point 3). Any social club can call themselves a church, doesn’t mean they are. Sadly there are many of those. Then there are “churches” that preach a false gospel. And there are also many of these. But we never should paint a broad brush saying that all churches are wrong. If Jesus is who he says he is then there will always be a true church.(“…the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”)

2. The Bible commands us to attend church regularly.

Hebrews 10:25(KJV) “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
When you look at the Biblical model of the church in the book of Acts you see that they met daily (Acts 2:46; Acts 5:42; Acts 17:17). As Christians we should be looking to see how MUCH church we can get, not how LITTLE church we can get. Church shouldn’t be a chore to do it should be something we get to do and want to do.
Every job I’ve worked i’ve told my bosses before I was hired that I couldn’t work on Sundays because I go to church. I’ve never worked a sunday in my life. Iv’e been threatened to be fired before if I didn’t work on Sunday but God has always come through and Iv’e never gone without. I believe because Iv’e honored his Word. Not because I’m better than anyone but because I know that I NEED church. Because God tells me I need church. Because God commands me to go to church. Remember, 1st Samuel 15:22(KJV) “…to obey is better than sacrifice…”

3. No church is perfect, but if you do find a perfect church, don’t go to it because then it won’t be perfect anymore.

Since Jesus Himself established the church and He commands us to not forsake assembling together as a body of believers we should go. There will never be a perfect the church. The important thing is that the church’s doctrine is Biblically accurate. Ask God to guide you in your search for a church. Ask God to show you His will. But by all means don’t forsake the church because you had a bad experience at one.

Jesus died for the church. His blood purchased it. The church is not a building but a body of believers. But we should assemble together regularly. The local church is the Biblical church.
